Worlds Collide

Sophomore year of high school saw me take Spanish 1 for the second and final time. Señora Olsen and I spent the year playfully bantering about whether or not it was important to learn the conjugations for vosotros. Spoiler, it was not.

In October I was talking to my guy Ordaz, who is for sure one of my favorite mission companions. He had been telling me about this girl he was starting to go on dates with. When he described her she sounded exactly like his type, at least from what he had told me back in the mean streets of the DR. I asked for her name and told him to send me a picture of her. When he sent me a picture of Karina I was so pleasantly surprised. We had gone to school together since we were little and this was Señora Olsen’s daughter!

Pictured is Karina who happened to be in Logan before I left for basic training. She and Ordaz hadn’t made the leap to being official yet, so we had a lovely little heart to heart chat. I told her Alejandro was one of the best guys I had ever met. He’s smart, selfless, and a faithful disciple of Christ. He inspires me to want to be a better version of myself. Because of him, what was likely the hardest stretch of my mission is also arguably my favorite. That’s the kind of person he is and a testament to his character.

Looks like the pep talk may have worked. I’m taking full credit for this wedding hehe
